8 reasons to switch to IDA's new Travel Insurance

IDA Forsikring has introduced a new and much better Travel Insurance product.

We do not automatically upgrade your policy to the new IDA Travel Insurance, but if you already have Travel Insurance and make changes or adjustments to your coverage, we will automatically change your insurance policy to the new travel insurance.

You can also do it yourself and immediately get all the benefits of the new Travel Insurance. The new insurance product is a significant improvement.

Here are eight good reasons to change to the new Travel Insurance:

1. Better Cancellation coverage

With our insurance product, you are much better off if you need to cancel your travel.

For example, if you fall ill, even if it is not critical or if it affects one of your closest relatives like your uncle or sister-in-law, you can still use your Cancellation Coverage.

In addition, you can select the sum insured of your Cancellation Coverage. Travel Insurance purchased before 1.6.2022 has a limit of DKK88,221, but it is not enough for a couple or family on an expensive holiday. With the new Travel Insurance, you can increase the sum insured.

Please note that you must add Cancellation to your policy before you book and pay for your holiday. If you already have IDA Travel Insurance and switch to the new Travel Insurance, the new policy will cover all your future trips.

2. Better chances of ruined holiday compensation in case of illness

If the authorities require isolation or quarantine after an outbreak of coronavirus, you can get ruined travel days compensation with Extended and Super packages.

If a person in your household becomes so ill that it requires hospitalization, you will also get compensation for ruined travel days with the new policy.

3. Online Danish medical consultation

You get straight access to Tryg Medical Hotline, where you can talk to a Danish physician if you fall ill during your holiday and need advice.

4. Compensation if the holiday home is unusable

Have you rented a holiday home or an Airbnb for your holiday, and the place turns out to be completely useless? Our new Travel Insurance will cover additional accommodation and food expenses in a similar rented lodge, house, or flat.

5. A Better opportunity for help and compensation if you experience accidents and delays

If you have an Extended or Supper package and deal with flight or baggage delay, you can recover accommodation, food, and other necessities expenses after 3 hours from the official time of departure. If you involuntarily attend late for your flight, you can also get compensation.

Travel Insurance Super provides compensation if the travel agency goes bankrupt or you experience luggage damage during transport.

If you have a Basis or Extended package, you can add baggage damage compensation to your insurance policy.

6. We cover the excess if the rented car suffers damage

Are you planning to rent a car, motorcycle, or other vehicles on holiday?

Extended or Super packages cover the excess of rented car damage usually claimed by the rental company. You can select the sum insured when you buy the insurance.

7. You get a free vaccine jab

Are you visiting a country that requires travel vaccination? If this is the case, and you have a Super package, everyone in your household gets a free vaccine jab.

8. The policy covers an extra travel companion

Maybe your child's playmate or a grandparent is coming with you on vacation? Your Travel Insurance covers an extra travel companion if you have a Super package.
