Why is it important to be insured?

We know that being is student keeps you busy. There are many books you need to read. Lectures, preparing and submitting assignments are all part of the course, and your spare time is probably also packed with fun activities and parties with friends. This doesn’t leave much time to think about insurance. Perhaps you're unsure how important it is to be insured? The fact of the matter is that it’s really important to be insured – both day to day and when travelling. We have set up a number of situations that show you how life would be without insurance:
  • You would have to find money for a new bike, if your old bike was stolen.
  • If you were travelling and had an accident, you wouldn’t get financial help for doctor or hospital visits.
  • If you accidentally hurt a person or their things, you would have to pay the compensation yourself.
  • If you had an accident that left you permanently injured, you wouldn’t get financial compensation.
We know that as a student, your budget is tight. That’s why it’s hard to see how you would afford insurance. That’s also why IDA Forsikring offers student discount on house contents insurance, travel insurance and accident insurance.Use our insurance calculator to see how much you could save.

What happens to my insurance when I’m no longer a student?

You can keep your Student Insurance until you turn 30. This also applies if you graduate before then. If you are still a student after the age of 30, you can of course keep your Student Insurance until you have finished your studies. When you can no longer have your Student Insurance, the insurance automatically continues but without your student discount – and without you needing to do anything.

Can I keep my Student Insurance if I take a break from my studies?

You can keep your Student Insurance if you decide to take a break. However your break must be no longer than a year. You must also be registered as a student to retain your insurances. If your break is longer than a year, or you decide to repeat your studies, please contact us.
