Medical preliminary evaluation - take the test now

Before you start your journey, take a moment to evaluate your health, especially if you have a chronic illness or condition. Your well-being is essential to enjoy your travels fully!

Does travel insurance cover you if you are chronically ill or pregnant?

IDA Travel Insurance provides coverage only for acute illnesses and injuries while you are on holiday. If you have a chronic condition, are pregnant, or have recently been ill, make sure your travel insurance covers your specific health needs.

Health Test Requirement

It is advisable to take a health test before booking your trip. Tryg, in cooperation with Falck, offers a health test to determine if your health is sufficient for coverage under your travel insurance or if a medical assessment is necessary. Should the test require more information about your health, you will be prompted to contact Falck Global Assistance, which will perform a preliminary medical assessment to establish your insurance policy coverage.

If travelling to these locations, please request a preliminary medical assessment through SOS International on phone +45 38 48 82 50 .

When to Take the Health Test

You should take a health test and seek an assessment in the following situations:

  • You are awaiting an examination or surgery.
  • You have received a diagnosis for a new illness within the two months before your departure.
  • You have a chronic or existing illness and have received new or acute treatment within the two months before your trip.
  • Your medication has changed significantly within the two months before your departure (e.g., a new medication or a significant dosage change).
  • You received treatment for an injury two months before your trip.
  • You are undergoing fertility treatment or are pregnant with complications, necessitating extra check-ups with a midwife, doctor, or at a hospital.

When You Do Not Need to Take the Health Test

You do not need to take the health test if:

  • You are temporarily sick (e.g., flu, cold, sinusitis), provided you do not have any symptoms of infection.
  • You have regular medical check-ups for your chronic illness with no changes in your treatment plan.
  • Being over 80 years old does not automatically require a health test.

Pregnancy and Insurance Coverage

If you are pregnant, have taken the health test, and have coverage, IDA Travel Insurance will cover health emergencies or injury costs during your trip. However, check your airline's pregnancy regulations before your flight, as these may vary, and some airlines may require a medical certificate.

Cancellation Coverage

You can add cancellation coverage to your policy should you wish to cancel your trip due to emergencies. This coverage also applies if your doctor has health concerns about your pregnancy, especially if there's a risk of premature birth.
