You have the right to cancel your purchase of a private insurance policy. Your right of withdrawal depends on how the insurance agreement was concluded:
You can find more information about the right of withdrawal in Sections 34e and 34i of the Danish Insurance Contracts Act.
You always have 14 days to cancel your insurance. The starting point of the withdrawal period depends on how the agreement was concluded, as described above.
If you spoke to one of our insurance advisers, the withdrawal period starts on the later of:
a. the date you were informed that the insurance had been purchased; or
b. the date you received clear written information about your right of withdrawal.
If you purchased the insurance online, the withdrawal period starts on the later of:
a. the date you were informed that the insurance had been purchased; or
b. the date you received the information we are legally required to provide, either by email or letter.
The same rules apply if your policy has been amended. Please note that only changes that extend your cover can be cancelled under the right of withdrawal.
If your insurance takes effect on Monday the 1st and you do not receive the required information until Wednesday the 3rd, your withdrawal period runs until Wednesday the 17th.
If the withdrawal period expires on a public holiday, Saturday, Constitution Day (5 June), Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, it is extended until the next working day.
For Building Insurance policies covering a private home, holiday home or other property, the right of withdrawal is limited by Section 60 of the Danish Financial Business Act. To withdraw from the policy, you must provide evidence within the 14-day withdrawal period that you have taken out equivalent building fire insurance with another insurer with retrospective effect.
You must notify us before the withdrawal period expires if you wish to cancel your purchase.
You can contact us by post or email. If you want proof that you submitted your cancellation within the deadline, we recommend sending your letter by registered post and keeping the receipt.
Please send your cancellation notice to:

Before purchasing insurance or related services, you should consider whether you already have similar cover through another insurer or provider.
If you have authorised IDA Forsikring to cancel an existing policy, we will do so on your behalf. Otherwise, you are responsible for cancelling any equivalent insurance policies or services yourself.
You must always cancel car insurance and Building Insurance with fire cover held with another insurer through IDA Forsikring.
When you take out an insurance policy, you must provide information about the risk you are insuring.
This is the information our intermediary, or we, ask for when generating an insurance quotation. We use it to assess risk and determine the premium and policy terms.
If you provide incorrect information when purchasing insurance, Tryg may cancel your policy with retrospective effect.
Incorrect information may also result in reduced compensation or no compensation at all. This follows the rules set out in the Danish Insurance Contracts Act.
Therefore, all information you provide must be accurate.
A non-life insurance tax is charged on non-life insurance policies and paid to the Danish Treasury.
The tax is 1.1% of the insurance premium and is payable each time you pay your insurance premium.
An environmental contribution of DKK 84 per year also applies.
For liability insurance covering passenger cars and vans, an annual environmental contribution of DKK 90 is charged. The contribution helps fund compensation paid when vehicles are scrapped or recycled.
A storm surge and stormfall levy of DKK 60 per year applies to building and home contents insurance policies that include fire cover.
The levy contributes to a fund that pays compensation for storm surge damage. For stormfall damage, insurance companies contribute to the replanting of private forests.
If you do not receive digital correspondence through e-Boks or My Page, a fee of DKK 82.50 per year per policyholder applies, regardless of how many policies you hold.
A fee of DKK 9.50 per policy applies when paying through Direct Debit (Betalingsservice).
A billing fee of DKK 38.50 applies to paper invoices.
If we don't receive payment on time, we will send a reminder. Each reminder incurs a DKK 100 fee to cover additional administration costs.
