We're moving in together – how do we manage our insurances?

As you and your partner embark on this journey of living together, it's important to address various aspects, including your insurance coverage. When your living situation changes, so do your insurance requirements.

Insure you and your partner

Notify us of your move

Informing us about your decision to move in together is crucial. We are here to help you review your insurance policies and make the necessary adjustments for your new living arrangement.

You can reach out to us by writing or calling to let us know about your move.

Additionally, remember to update your information with the civil registration office.

You only need one home contents insurance

Home contents insurance provides coverage for both you and your partner – and your children are also included under the same policy. That's why there's no need to pay for two separate home contents insurances. When you move in together, it's advisable to cancel one.

Before combining your home contents insurance policies, consider the following to ensure comprehensive coverage:

  • If you or your partner own expensive electronics requiring additional protection, you might want to consider adding the 'extended electronic malfunction' option.
  • If you have valuable belongings and furniture, the 'sudden damage' add-on could be a beneficial investment. This covers incidents like spilling coffee on the sofa or accidentally knocking over an expensive vase.
  • If either of you has a new or expensive bicycle, it might be a good idea to choose the 'extended bike repair' add-on for added coverage.

You can easily add or modify options on My Page, instantly seeing the prices for these add-ons. Both of you are covered with these additional options.

You are covered at both your old and new address

Home contents insurance covers both your old and new addresses for three months from when you take over the new residence. If there's an overlap between the addresses during the move, rest assured that you are well covered.

Please contact us regarding the change of address.

Travel insurance covers everyone in the household

If you both have separate travel insurance, you can safely cancel one when you move in together – because travel insurance typically covers the entire household.

Like home contents insurance, you may need to adjust your travel insurance to cater to your needs. Consider the following:

  • Do you need travel insurance covering the entire world?
  • Do you need to add trip cancellation insurance?
  • Do you need flight compensation for flights delayed by more than three hours?

If changes are required for your travel insurance, there's no need to get a new one. You can easily add and modify options on My Page to match your combined needs.

Travel insurance also covers your children

Travel insurance covers everyone in the household. This includes your children.

  • Children are covered regardless of age as long as they reside at your registered address.
  • All children in shared custody situations are covered, even if they live with separate parents.

Remember to provide the full names and social security numbers of your children.
