Storm and Weather-Related Damage

It covers, among other things, the following weather-related damages:

Storm

• Frost damage to pipes, snow pressure, avalanches, and hail
• Water damage caused by another covered event
• Severe thaw or cloudburst resulting in flooding

Sudden Damage

You are also covered for sudden damage to your home caused by, for example:

• Theft and vandalism
• Discharge of water, oil, coolant, or steam (also applies to aquariums)

Glass and Sanitary Fixtures

It covers breakage of glass or sanitary fixtures. The following items are typically covered:

• Windows and doors
• Shower enclosures
• Cooktops and oven doors
• Kitchen sinks and washbasins
• Toilet bowls, bidets, and cisterns

Note: No insurance excess applies for glass and sanitary coverage.

Homeowner’s Liability

It covers you if you are held legally liable and face a compensation claim for damage.

Legal Assistance

You are covered in the event of a legal dispute related to, for example, private construction work or the purchase and sale of property. Coverage requires a reasonable chance of winning the case.

Your home is covered for damage caused by, for example:

• Leaks in pipe installations and faults in cables that you are responsible for maintaining.
• Leaks in drainage systems if they result in functional failure or damage to the building.

You are also covered for consequential damage resulting from the above, as well as expenses related to fault detection or leak location, provided we have pre-approved this.

It covers damage caused by, among other things:

• Leaks in concealed pipe installations.
• Leaks in hoses located behind built-in appliances, such as refrigerators and freezers with a water supply.
• Faults in concealed electrical cables used for room heating.

You are also covered for consequential damage and the costs of fault detection or leak localisation.

Definition: Hidden pipes and cables are installations that are not directly accessible, such as those embedded in walls or floors.

Your home is covered for damage caused by insects or fungi that compromise the structure's expected lifespan or load-bearing capacity.

It covers damage to wood caused by fungi and/or bacteria that deteriorate the wood's structural integrity or functionality. Rot in windows and doors is also covered.

Note: The insurance does not cover surface rot in wood exposed to high humidity. Therefore, external wooden structures such as fascia boards, bargeboards, and uncovered wall plates are not covered.

Eligibility: This add-on can only be purchased if you also have the Fundamental Package and Insect and Fungi Damage coverage.

Your home is covered for water damage, such as:

• Sudden water intrusion - e.g., water in the foundation, basement floor, basement walls, or roof structures.
• Rising groundwater or sewage backflow.
• Leakage from visible installations, such as radiators or aquariums.

It covers 50% of the costs of repairing cosmetic differences. The coverage is divided into two categories:

• Tiles and flooring - related to a covered claim under the Service Line
• Damage and/or Hidden Pipe and Cable Damage.
• Glass and sanitaryware - related to a covered claim under Glass and Sanitaryware.Limitations:
• Repairs are limited to the affected room area (tiles, flooring, and sanitaryware).
• One window or door section per claim (glass).

Optional add-on for enhanced protection of your home and property:

Building materials - theft, vandalism, and sudden damage to construction materials.

Functional failure - faults or breakdowns in appliances, burglar alarms, or electric awnings.

Animal damage - repair or replacement of building components damaged by animals in inhabited buildings (e.g., a rat gnawing through the floor).

Garden landscaping - theft, vandalism, or vehicle impact by someone who does not own or reside at the property.

It covers assistance to prevent or limit damage to your home. This service may include:

• Tree felling
• Frost and snow - thawing of frozen pipes and removal of heavy snow from the roof
• Animal capture - wild birds, hedgehogs, and snakes
• Wasp nest removal
• Control of black garden ants
