Whether you need comprehensive insurance depends on your specific coverage needs. However, comprehensive insurance provides extensive coverage in the following areas:

• Compensation in the event of theft (loss due to theft or damage caused by attempted theft)
• Guaranteed rescue insurance coverage when travelling abroad in the event of an accident
• Coverage for legal aid, including reimbursement of legal expenses for a lawyer
• Replacement of extras and accessories up to DKK10,000

How can I add optional coverage to my insurance policy?

It is important to note that in addition to comprehensive coverage, several extra options are available to cover yourself. These include:

• 'Theft coverage' is a good option if you opt out of the comprehensive coverage
• You can also purchase 'Opting out of Special Excess in Case of Theft,' which can be helpful as motorcycle theft usually has an insurance excess of 20%

What distinguishes liability insurance from comprehensive insurance coverage?

Statutory liability insurance only covers damage caused by a motorcyclist to other people or their property. This limitation to liability means you will not be compensated for damages to your motorcycle. 

However, if you have comprehensive insurance with hulls as a supplement, you will be covered for damages to your motorcycle, regardless of who is at fault.

What is the excess amount on the insurance policy?

The amount of insurance excess you pay on your motorcycle insurance policy depends on multiple factors, such as the brand of your motorcycle, your age, and the cost of the bike. You may be able to remove the excess, but if you are under 26, you cannot purchase insurance without an excess. If your motorcycle gets stolen, you will be liable to pay 20% of the loss as excess.
