Essential information about IDA Supplemental Unemployment Insurance
Our supplemental unemployment insurance, provided through Topdanmark, offers convenient management through My Topdanmark.
However, it's worth knowing that the insurance comes with certain conditions. Here's what you need to know:
- You won't be covered if you resign.
- Coverage doesn't apply if you were aware of your termination when you took out the insurance.
- Termination due to a pre-existing illness or an accident you knew about during insurance purchase is not covered.
- Self-employed individuals are not eligible for coverage.
- Job loss within six months after taking out the insurance is not covered.
- Uninterrupted employment for at least 12 months leading up to unemployment is a requirement.
- For instance, the unemployment insurance fund considers you responsible for your termination due to workplace theft.
- You have a contract that is ending for temporary employment.
Requirements for Supplemental Unemployment Insurance
IDA Forsikring offers supplemental unemployment insurance in collaboration with Akademikernes A-kasse (AKA). That's why you must be a member of either IDA or AKA to take out supplemental unemployment insurance.
If you are solely an AKA member without IDA affiliation, the application for supplemental unemployment insurance must be completed through AKA's website; IDA Forsikring does not facilitate this process.
In addition, the following requirements apply:
- You must be between 18 and 60 years old when applying for insurance, and it must be taken out before you turn 59 years and 11 months.
- It is mandatory to work a minimum of 16 hours per week to be eligible for supplemental unemployment insurance.
- To receive benefits, you must be a Danish unemployment insurance fund member.
- If your cohabitant wishes to obtain supplemental unemployment insurance, you must hold one or more insurance policies with IDA Forsikring.
