Writing prescriptions

The vet can write prescriptions for your dog or cat if medication is necessary for treatment. It is a prerequisite that the vet can make a reliable diagnosis during the video consultation and you should be aware that the vet must have the opportunity to see your dog or cat during your online consultation.

The vet assesses your dog or cat's condition online for free

In collaboration with Tryg, our veterinary hotline allows you to speak with a vet online from the comfort of your home. This service is included with our dog and cat insurance.

The hotline is a useful tool to assess whether your pet needs veterinary care, and in some cases, it can replace a physical visit to the vet. The online vet can provide guidance and referrals to an in-person vet if necessary.

The consultation is free if you have the "Illness and Accident" coverage in your dog or cat insurance.

The veterinary hotline is open every day of the week

You can speak with a veterinarian on our hotline every day from 6 a.m. to midnight, including weekends and holidays.

Illnesses and accidents can happen at inconvenient times, so you and your pet need to have access to help when needed.

How it works

  • Log in to My Page.
  • Select "Ekstra tryghed".
  • Click Dyrelægehotline.
  • Book an appointment: iVet will send you a link to a video call.
  • Hold the video call. The link is active just before the video call is due to start.

Our veterinary hotline addresses the following concerns for you and your pet

  • Vomiting and diarrhoea: Determine whether your dog or cat is experiencing a common upset stomach or requires veterinary attention for a more severe illness. Our hotline can guide you in making this assessment.
  • Irritation and itching: The hotline vet can help assess whether a skin problem should be examined further or if you can treat it at home with over-the-counter products.
  • Eyes and ears: Are your pet's eyes running, or are their ears itching more than usual? Get advice on how to care for your pet and whether a vet visit is necessary.
  • Poisoning: If your pet has eaten or drunk something it shouldn't have, our hotline can help assess the severity. You'll receive advice on which symptoms to monitor and when to consult a physical vet.
  • Injuries and accidents: Has your dog or cat cut its paw or suffered another injury? The vet will assess whether you can treat the wound yourself or if it needs closer examination by a vet.
  • Behavioral problems, diet and deworming: If you have questions about behavioral problems, diet and deworming for your dog or cat, the vet can also help with that.
