BEFORE THE TRIP

Check the Foreign Ministry's travel advice

Is your holiday destination safe? Or is there an increased threat of war, terrorism, or epidemics such as the coronavirus?The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently updating its travel guidelines with advice and guidance on safety in all countries. You can also download the Travel Ready app and sign up for the Danish list and get a notification if a crisis occurs at your destination.Read the Ministry of Foreign Affairs travel advice at um.dk

Make sure you have a valid blue EU Health Insurance card

The yellow health card only covers travel activities within Denmark. Always remember it when travelling in Denmark.If the journey is to an EU or EEA country, all travellers must have a blue EU Health Insurance card. Remember to renew your EU Blue Card every five years. Don't have a valid blue Health Insurance card? Then get it well in advance of your trip.  Can't get the blue EU Health Insurance card because you're not an EU national? Then you are still covered by IDA Travel Insurance if you have the yellow health card.Order the blue EU Health Insurance card at borger.dk.

Check Travel Insurance and Cancellation Coverage

Does your Travel Insurance cover the area you are planning to visit? If you're travelling outside Europe, you'll need to upgrade your Travel Insurance to Worldwide.Do you need to buy and add Cancellation Coverage to your policy? Cancellation offers compensation if, for example, you need to cancel your trip because of illness or death in the family. If you have Travel Insurance purchased before 1.6.2022, you must add it to your insurance at least 12 days before departure.If you have Travel Insurance purchased after 1.6.2022, you must buy and add it before booking the trip.You can easily buy cancellation insurance or change the scope of your Travel Insurance by logging in to My Page. Log in to My Page and change your Travel Insurance

Remember a health examination if you are pregnant, over 80, or chronically ill

If you have a chronic condition, are pregnant, over 80, or have been sick, make sure you are well enough for coverage from your Travel Insurance before you travel.Read more and take the health test

Check your travel vaccinations

Check other insurance policies

Remember passports, credit cards, driving licences, and other relevant documents

Prevent home break-ins while on holiday

The risk of break-ins increases if you live on the ground floor in an apartment building or house and the place is empty for some time during the holiday season. Plan with neighbours to empty your mailbox, throw rubbish in your bin, and look out for suspicious people.

Pack the essential stuff in your hand baggage

Your Travel Insurance covers luggage delays on holiday. But even if you get help, arriving without the essentials can still be critical.Always carry your passport, tickets, Visa or Mastercard, phone, glasses, and medication in your hand baggage

Get help on holiday if the worst happens

What is the number of the local police? Take care of your things on holiday

Your Home Contents Insurance protects your belongings against theft on holiday. But make sure you keep your things safe from thieves:
  • Keep credit cards, money, jewellery, and expensive items in a safety deposit box, or don't keep them together and prevent losing everything at once in case of an accident.
  • Don't carry too much cash with you, as insurance doesn't cover all situations where you lose bills.
  • Watch out for pickpockets on sidewalks, public transport, tourist attractions, and other places where people walk closely. Keep your belongings close to your body.
  • Do you drive or rent a car? Don't tempt thieves by leaving valuables visible from the outside.

AFTER THE TRIP

Have you had a break-in?

Have you been unlucky enough to have a break-in while on holiday?Please, contact the police and do not touch anything until the police have been there.
