What do you need help with?

  • What should I do if I buy a new car?

Remember, if you replace your car, an offer for the new car must be made – even if the car is to be insured the same way as your old car.

Remember to click on ‘change car on insurance policy' field and fill in your old car's registration number when you accept your quote.

If you do not have the car's registration or prefix number before you pick up the car, just wait before you accept your quote until you get the car delivered. Personal liability insurance comes along your auto when the dealer has registered it in your name and noted Tryg as your preferred insurance company. The same applies if you wish comprehensive insurance coverage on your car.

If you are buying a new car, but don't have the license plate or registration number, you can just finalize the insurance quote later.

    Has your question been answered?
  • Can I let someone else borrow my car?

You may occasionally borrow your car to others. You do not have to pay a higher premium for this reason, but you need to be aware of a number of things.

What should I be aware of as car owner?
If you often borrow your car to other people, we recommend that you contact us. We would like to advise you and help you assess whether you have registered the right users for your car insurance. It is important that the insurance is registered with the right users, so you avoid cuts in compensation of accepted filed claims.

    Children and young people
If you borrow your car out to your children, and they damage your car, your car insurance covers you in the same way as if you were the one at fault. However, please note that you will be charged an extra excess of DKK 3.206 (2019) if the driver of the car is under 26. If the driver over is 26 years old or older then the car insurance covers in the same way as if you were responsible for the claim.

  • What is the difference between liability and comprehensive insurance?

    Liability insurance
Liability insurance is mandatory car insurance. If you have caused an accident, which has hurt or damaged other people, things or vehicles, it is your liability insurance that covers you.

    Comprehensive insurance
Contrary to liability insurance, it is your choice whether to add comprehensive insurance on top. Comprehensive insurance typically covers damage to your car caused by theft, fire, lightning strikes and explosions. Please note that some banks require you to have comprehensive insurance if you want a car loan.

    Has your question been answered?
  • Does the insurance cover me if I want to rent my car out?

No, your car insurance does not cover the time your car is rented out through e.g. GoMore. Please note that the annual mileage you selected when you took out car insurance must include the kilometers used for rent.

    Has your question been answered?
  • Should I adjust my estimated mileage?
  • How does the insurance work if my car is leased?

If you are leasing your vehicle, the insurance is subject to the same conditions as if you owned it. However, the dealer is the owner of the car.

We recommend that you take out the optional Tryg Leasing. It covers the cost of minor damages, which are calculated after the end of the lease term, as well as the refund of first-time payments in case of theft or total loss during the lease term.

Smaller damages are also considered damages by claim specialists. These can be repaired for a maximum of DKK 5,000 (this includes VAT per claim). You are covered up to a total of DKK 25,000 - including your excess DKK 5,000. Smaller damage is calculated by a claim specialist when the leasing period is over. You are covered for leasing periods extending from 6 to 48 months.

The first-time payment can be refunded if your car is stolen or completely loss within the first four years from the date the leasing contract was issued. However, the following annual aggregate limits apply:

    • DKK 25,000 in the first year
    • DKK 15,000 in the second year
    • DKK 10,000 in the third year
    • DKK 7,000 within the fourth year

If you wish to take out Tryg Leasing optional coverage, please contact us at 70 21 01 91 or write to us.
