Your Home Contents Insurance at IDA Forsikring covers your bicycle in case of theft and vandalism. In addition, you can buy an extra cover - e.g., if your bike gets damaged in connection with traffic accidents.

Information about how Home Contents Insurance protects your bike against theft and vandalism

The insurance covers bike theft and vandalism up to DKK 15,000 per bicycle.If you have a more expensive bicycle, we recommend raising the sum insured to DKK 170,000.There are some preconditions for bike theft coverage:
  • The bike has a Danish serial number
  • You can provide the serial number
  • You locked your bike with a lock approved by Varefakta
  • You reported the theft to the police

Traffic accidents and damage to your bicycle

If you are in a traffic accident, your Home Contents Insurance will not cover your bicycle, only those personal items you carried during the accident.The insurance does not cover you against damage to your bike unless you have Extended Bicycle Damage as an add-on.If you need extended coverage, you can choose between Extended Bike Repair and Extended New Components Coverage. Get a bike alarm lock or rear light GPS with extra coverage

If you have one of the three following products:
  • a Home Contents Insurance purchased after August 23, 2021, with accident cover
  • a Student Home Insurance purchased after August 23, 2021
  • a Home Contents Insurance purchased before August 23, 2021, and one of the following add-ons: Extended or Super

Free Home Contents Insurance for Students does not provide Extra Bike Coverage

If you have a free Home Contents Insurance for students you cannot raise your insured sum over DKK 15,000, choose Extended Bicycle cover and get help with bike repairs or select a bicycle benefit.If you want additional coverage for your free Home Contents version, you must change to a regular Home Contents Insurance for Students.You can take out a regular Home Contents Insurance for Students by calling IDA Forsikring at +45 70 21 01 91.
